Events
After the recent EU-China Summit and the South China Sea ruling, on 18 July the EU Foreign Affairs Council is expected to formally adopt the EU’s new China strategy. On 19 July Clingendael will host the first Round table discussion on this Strategy. During this closed think tank event the new China strategy will be presented.
This round table gathers leading practitioners and scholars to reflect on the EU’s rapidly approaching strategy on China. Co-author George Cunningham of the European External Action Service kicks off the discussion with a presentation on the creation and final outcome of the newest EU strategy on China.
What are Europe’s interests in its relations with China and how are these best prioritised and defended? Where does this new China strategy stand in relation to recently launched EU Global Strategy on Foreign Policy and Security? How does it relate to EU Member States’ policies? And is there a role for European economic diplomacy in unfolding the EU’s new China policies?
