Wietse Slob joined the Clingendael Institute as an Academy Project Fellow in April 2024. In this role, he develops, coordinates, and implements a variety of trainings programs for diplomats and other professionals in international relations, with a focus on the European Union, diplomacy, and sustainable development. 

Prior to joining Clingendael, Wietse worked as a policy assistant at the Directorate-General for Climate Action at the European Commission in Brussels. He also worked as a climate policy advisor at the international NGO Drawdown Europe Research Association, where he advised regional governments on how to best align with international climate targets. Wietse completed a bachelor’s degree in Global Sustainability Science at Utrecht University, a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at the Blekinge Institute for Technology, and a second master’s degree in International Development Studies at Wageningen University.
