The way in which aid workers have to do their job might have changed since the start of the COVID crisis; but the need for their activities has not! In fact, the already rising humanitarian needs have only been intensified by the pandemic, and constructive negotiations about the provision of aid remain essential.

Therefore, Clingendael Academy continued with the online negotiation skills trainings after the successful start of the digital trainings for humanitarian aid workers last year.

In the second week of March, aid workers from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and Yemen participated in our 5-day foundation course. The training provided the opportunity to learn more about negotiation tools and techniques, and immediately put them in practice. Despite some connections challenges the group was very active in all the exercises and simulations, and they also shared examples from their own extensive experience in the humanitarian field.

We are grateful that this hard-working group was in the training with us and it proved to be yet another successful training. We are looking forward to the other online trainings that will have in the coming weeks and months to come.

We provide similar negotiation skills courses throughout the year. Please find more information on our humanitarian negotiation page.
