Nils de Mooij
Training and Research Fellow
Nils de Mooij joined Clingendael in March 2007 as Fellow for the Clingendael Diplomatic Studies Programme (CDSP). Before joining Clingendael, he was president of the Dutch United Nations Student Association (SIB-Utrecht) in 2002-2003, chairing the umbrella 'Stichting International Centre' and SIB-Utrecht's advisory board in the years thereafter. Apart from organising and moderating symposia, lectures and workshops, he also wrote and led simulation games for the association, exploring international situations and conflicts as diverse as European Union negotiations, Caucasian oil politics, the Congo, Kashmir, and the Spratly Islands.

(Current) Projects
- Nils is focusing his current research on US foreign policy, put in the perspective of both US domestic politics as well as international relations.
- For CDSP training, Nils is working on diplomatic training and capacity building, particularly (though not exclusively) for diplomats from Indonesia.
Education
Nils holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's in conflict studies and human rights (cum laude), both attained at Utrecht University. For his master's degree, he undertook several months of independent research into the Ukrainian 2004 Orange Revolution in Kiev, in particular the role of the non-violent 'Yellow Pora' protest movement.
