Marcel de Haas

Senior Research Fellow

Lieutenant-Colonel Royal Netherlands Army Dr. M. de Haas is Senior Fellow on military doctrine, strategy and security policy of the Netherlands, NATO, EU, Russia and the CIS. He has served on posts such as military-political analyst, lecturer in international relations and international law, head research branch NATO School and policy advisor. During his most recent assignment, at Defence Staff, he has been responsible for the drafting of the first edition of the Netherlands Defence Doctrine. He has lectured at Dutch, British, Danish, Baltic, Georgian, Russian, South African, Chinese, and NATO defence colleges and universities.
