IPSI aims to empower the next generation of peacemakers in a three week summer school hosted in the Hague. On Sunday July 5th, Justice Richard Goldstone, the first chief prosecutor to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, gave an opening speech to all participants during the opening dinner in the Hague’s city center.

Fifty emerging world leaders, coming from over 27 different countries covering all continents, participate in training sessions, lectures and debates on post-conflict transitions and international justice. As IPSI says it: “We’re professionalizing “post-conflict” transitions”.

Bologna Symposium

At the same time, IPSI’s other Summer Symposium is taking place in Bologna, Italy. During the four weeks of the Bologna Symposium, the participants will undergo intensive training in the fields of peacebuilding and conflict management. In both programmes, participants are being trained by Clingendael negotiation trainers in effectively negotiating and maximizing their efforts in their future careers.

The Clingendael Institute shares IPSI’s vision and objectives due to their shared commitment to provide education and training in the theory and practice of post-conflict transitions and international justice.

Since the history and workings of tribunals and courts will exhaustively be discussed, The Hague provides a unique location for this Summer School as the world capital of international law. Working visits to the International Criminal Court and International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia are organized, enabling participants to see all that they have studied in practice.

The Clingendael Institute provides its unique and inspiring building and environment to facilitate the Symposium, so as to ensure a fruitful experience for the participants of this program. Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive their Post-Graduate Certificate in “Post-Conflict Transitions & International Justice”. They will have enriched themselves with an enormous amount of knowledge and skills, and a wide network of fellow-minded friends and colleagues.
