Iraqi diplomats conclude Fifth Diplomatic Training Programme
February 25, 2009. Eighteen diplomats currently working for the national Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs in Baghdad were trained from the 12th of January till the 12th of February 2009 at the Clingendael Institute. The fifth training programme on international relations and diplomatic practice was intensive and challenging. The rich and balanced formula of lectures, workshops, seminars, working visits, simulation games dealt with topics related to foreign policy, international conflict and peace, diplomacy, energy, security, politics of reform and transition in Iraq and the Middle East and European integration. With the conclusion of the Fifth Diplomatic Training Programme for Iraqi diplomats in 2009 the number of trained diplomats from the new Iraq has risen to 77.
