- Centre for Refugee Studies: Engaged in research on refugee issues; it informs public discussion as well as policy development and practice innovation by international, governmental, advocacy and service organizations; and it supports teaching in refugee and migration studies. Refugee studies is conceived in broad terms, as being concerned with the displacement of populations and individuals across and within borders, for reasons of persecution, expulsion, violence, violation of fundamental human rights, and loss of essential human security and livelihood.
- Committee on Migration and Refugee Affairs: Works to help those who have been forced to flee their homes. The CMRA agencies focus on refugee protection, assistance, processing, resettlement and advocacy. They also address issues of immigration, naturalization and asylum reform. The CMRA provides a forum through which the agencies coordinate their programs and policies, build consensus on refugee issues, and interface with the US government, the UNHCR, and other international agencies.

- Institut für Migrationsforschung und Interkulturelle Studien, Universität Osnabrück: Examines historical and contemporary demographic, geographic, social, economic, political and legislative, women and gender, psychological and educational, language and linguistic issues of migration and integration from an interdisciplinary perspective.
- Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies, University of Amsterdam: an interdisciplinary research institute.The research programme promotes the encounter and - where possible - the integration of different perspectives. The research programme of IMES focuses on the Dutch case with specific attention given to the City of Amsterdam, but from an international and comparative perspective. A UNESCO program of comparison of European cities and the cooperation with Metropolis International are examples of this.
- Institute for the Study of International Migration: Part of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and affiliated with the Law Center at Georgetown University. ISIM brings social science, legal and policy expertise to the complex and controversial issues raised by international migration.
- The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre : The IDMC was established in 1998 by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). At the request of the United Nations, the Geneva-based IDMC runs an online database providing comprehensive information and analysis on internal displacement in some 50 countries. Based on its monitoring and data collection activities, the Centre advocates for durable solutions to the plight of the internally displaced in line with international standards. The IDMC also carries out training activities to enhance the capacity of local actors to respond to the needs of internally displaced people (IDPs). In its work, the Centre cooperates with and provides support to local and national civil society initiatives.
- International Centre for Migration Policy Development: an inter-governmental organisation based in Vienna. The purpose of the Centre is to promote comprehensive and sustainable migration policies and to function as a service exchange mechanism for governments and organisations primarily on European migration issues.
- International Labour Migration : Goal of MIGRANT is to assist countries in policy formulation, and in establishing or strengthening legislation, administrative measures, structures and practices for effective management of labour migration. To achieve this goal, the activities of MIGRANT focus on three component objectives: Protecting the rights of migrant wrokers and promoting their integration in countries of destination and countires of origin; Forging an international consensus on how to manage migration; Improving the knowledge base on international migration.

- Migration Policy Institute: MPI is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think-tank in Washington, D.C. dedicated to the study of the movement of people worldwide. MPI provides analysis, development, and evaluation of migration and refugee policies at the local, national, and international levels.
- Migration Research Unit, University College London: Purpose is to carry out high quality research, independently or in collaboration with others, designed to increase knowledge and understanding of international population migration issues.
- Odysseus Academic network for legal studies on immigration and asylum in Europe: The network aims to analyse the legislation of EU member states and legislation of the EU in the areas of migration and asylum. The objective is to furnish universities, policy-makers, practitioners and NGOs with a deeper insight on the relevant, from a European perspective.
