Conference 'UK Presidency of the European Union'

Monday July 11, 2005

On Monday 11 July 2005 the Clingendael Institute will hold, in collaboration with the British Embassy in The Hague, a conference to mark the start of the UK Presidency of the European Union, during the second half of 2005.

We are very pleased that the British Ambassador to the Netherlands, H.E. Sir Colin Budd KCMG, has kindly accepted our invitation to give a speech on this occasion, in order to present and discuss the British priorities under the EU Presidency.

H.E. Mr Atzo Nicolaï, the Dutch Minister for European Affairs, will give a reaction to the British EU-agenda, also with a view to current issues featuring prominently in the European debate. After his reaction, there will be ample time for discussion and questions. The meeting will be chaired by the former Ambassador of the Netherlands to the United Kingdom Willem Baron Bentinck van Schoonheten, who is a member of the Board of Governors of the Clingendael Institute. The event will take place from 10.00 - 12.00 hrs. Coffee will be served from 09.30 hrs.
