Terrorism and Radicalisation

Research into the many tenets of terrorism constitutes one of the core activities of CSCP. Amongst its in-house experts are Mr. Dr. Edwin Bakker, author of 'Jihadi terrorists in Europe', and Mr. Dr. Gijs de Vries, former European Union counter-terrorism coordinator. In addition, Ms. Bibi van Ginkel LL.M specialises in the legal aspects of counter terrorism, offering a judicial input into the research. The combination of scholarly insights and hands-on experience has not only produced a number of leading articles in various journals and newspapers, but CSCP's well-founded opinions on the many divergent aspects of terrorism and radicalization have also resulted in policy suggestions and practical recommendations to counter this threat.

Currently, CSCP works jointly with five European partner institutes on a project for the European Commission, titled "Transnational Terrorism, Security, and the Rule of Law", coordinated by Ms. Polyna Berlin.

Additionally, CSCP research fellows are involved in the MICROCON project on radicalisation.
