Conference on Private Military Companies

May 26, 2008. Clingendael CSCP, in cooperation with the Dutch Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV) organised a conference on Private Military Companies on May 23rd, 2008. Private military companies (PMCs) play an ever increasing role in modern day conflicts. Not only do they provide protection services in times of conflict, but some of them have also carved out a role for themselves in the actual fighting. The purpose of this conference was to contribute to an understanding as to how to deal with PMCs and how to find solutions to the problems we find ourselves confronted with when hiring or contracting PMCs.
