Energy security tasking for Armed Forces
June 28, 2007. At a seminar of Radio Netherlands Worldwide Clingendael researcher Marcel de Haas was interviewed by the ANP-press agency on his presentation dealing with energy security as task of Armed Forces, which was published in the daily newspapers Telegraaf en Reformatorisch Dagblad. "Developments in Eastern and Western military alliances and armed forces (Russia, USA) demonstrate that energy security is becoming a task of the defence organisation. For NATO and the EU energy security - due to the increasing global demand and the danger of crisis from a decrease in supply levels - will gain further weight as a military task. Defence and Foreign Affairs policy documents and the National Security Strategy suggest that Dutch troops will also be involved in energy security in the future."
