Expert brainstorm on Kosovo 13 December 2007

On Thursday, December 13 Clingendael's Security and Conflict Progamme hosted for the second time an expert brainstorm on the Balkans. Whereas the first expert meeting in October 2007 set out to examine the role of the International Community in Bosnia/ Herzegovina and Kosovo, this time, the discussion focussed solely on Kosovo. More specifically, participants discussed the current political situation in Kosovo and the impact it has on the local population and the regional stability.

In the opinion of the participants, the role of the International Community and the European Union was of particular importance for the resolution of the conflict. After a well-informed exchange of ideas, all participants concluded that the upcoming unfolding events in Kosovo beg for a continuous exchange of thoughts, particularly on how the International Community can contribute to a stable political solution in the Balkans.
