Conference Peace Security and Development Network: A reflection on fragile states policies and debates: results, barriers and challenges 15 January 2010

On the 15th of January 2010 the Peace, Security and Development Network (PSDN) holds its second conference. We are honored to invite you on behalf of the Network partners. The PSD Network originated in 2008 as one of the ‘Schoklandakkoorden’ (nowadays Millennium Accords). The Network brings together various Dutch actors – amongst others knowledge institutes, NGOs, private sector, and ministries – to work on the matter of fragile states. The partners of the Network are divided into five working groups, each with its own separate theme (Local Governance, DDR, Gender, Multi Stakeholder Partnerships, Public Private Cooperation)

For this conference, besides the Network’s partners, other (inter)national guests will be invited. Throughout the day, we will assess the Dutch fragile state policy and pay special attention to its first results, the barriers and its main challenges for the coming two years. This day we will attempt to come up with concrete suggestions to strengthen a coherent policy on fragile states. This will all be centered around the themes: Security/Hybrid orders/Economic Development/Gender.

You can expect a dynamic, interactive and varied day with plenary sessions, presentations, breakouts, and inspiring speakers. We look forward to document the progress made by the working groups as well as deepen our understanding of the issues through a contribution of new input and knowledge by all those present.
