Training
Energy Training
As the aftermath of the international financial and economic crisis wanes, and the world begins to recover, the energy world has embarked on a new chapter. From a situation involving ‘undersupply’ during the early to mid-2000s, last year has ended with comparative oversupply in the oil and gas markets. Simultaneously, the debate over the necessity of a change in the world’s overall energy mix towards a more sustainable one, continues to be held. In combination with the changing geopolitical spectrum, this all holds profound implications for EU energy policy.
To gain a better understanding of the complexities involved in this regard, and specifically with respect to national and EU-policy, international politics and market developments in energy, the Clingendael International Energy Programme has designed a new series of one-day Energy Courses. Drawing on CIEP's vast experience in lecturing and customised training CIEP now offers its own energy curriculum consisting of one-day modules covering a range of energy and energy-related subjects. The curriculum consists of stand-alone, open enrolment modules enabling participants to pick and choose à la carte, from one single module to a composition of a training programme best suited to their own needs and interests.
Participants in CIEP Energy Training will
- Gain knowledge on the public and private, national and international, political and economic context of the energy sector;
- Be offered insight into the dynamics and interdependencies in the energy sector and the policymaking on the subject;
- Be stimulated to develop an analytical framework based on which they are better equipped to place recent developments in perspective and gather and interpret relevant information.
Subjects covered include
- Energy demand and supply
- Energy and geopolitics
- Energy and security
- Regulation of energy markets in the EU
- Energy and transition
- Energy and climate policy
- Geopolitical underpinnings of energy markets
