Carbon Capture and Storage: Linking EU policy aspiration with business initiatives?

March 10, 2008. On April 10th the Clingendael International Energy Programme will organise a seminar with high-level speakers on carbon capture and storage (CCS). Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions has recently become one of the key priorities on Europe's policy agenda. A technology that could potentially play an important role in bringing down CO2 emissions is carbon capture and storage (CCS). To date, this technology is only applied at a small scale and a lot of outstanding issues (real storage potential, liability, transport infrastructure, expected costs) have to be resolved before this technology can be used on a larger scale.
