Clingendael Energy Paper: Energy as a Bond: Relations with Russia in the European and Dutch Context

In 2006 and early 2007, the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP) and the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs organised two seminars on the Dutch and European energy relations with Russia. These seminars were part of a broader project to assess the current state of the relations between the European Union/the Netherlands and the Russian Federation, including energy co-operation and energy policy. The project explored and discussed the economic and political perspectives of co-operation with Russia, both from a national and from a wider EU point of view. CIEP prepared background documents for both seminars. Subsequently, the topics discussed in the papers were elaborated further and are now presented as a Clingendael Energy Paper, co-authored by Susann Handke and Jacques de Jong. Read more »
