CIEP Symposium 'Competition for Oil'
October 24, 2007. Geopolitical insecurity is considered a main factor driving the current rise in oil prices and states might increasingly look for ways to strengthen their security of supply. This drive for increased energy security could spark increasing rivalry between states to reduce uncertainty and to lock-up energy supplies for the future. To discuss these issues CIEP organises a symposium on the “Competition for Oil”. CIEP has invited Professor Michael T. Klare (books include: 'Resource Wars', 'Blood and Oil') to give a presentation on security of energy supply. Following professor Klare's presentation Thierry Legendre, policy advisor on energy security to the Secretary General of NATO, will share his views on the role of NATO in security of supply issues.
