CIEP Briefing Paper:The US National Petroleum Council Report
August 22, 2007. Energy policy looks set to become an important topic in the upcoming presidential elections in the United States. A broad consensus among stakeholders in US energy policy seems to be emerging on the need to better balance the three objectives of energy policy - security of supply, economic efficiency and protection of the environment. The call for an integrated energy policy is becoming louder. Warner ten Kate places the recently released NPC report - "Facing the Hard Truths about Energy" - in the context of current US discussions on this topic in a CIEP briefing paper.
