April 2, 2008. The process of European integration is constantly in flux. Current developments include the ratification process of the Treaty of Lisbon, the question of further enlargement of the European Union (EU), and the role of the EU in world affairs. The process of European integration is, moreover, becoming ever more entrenched in our society. The consequences of this are not limited to the social-economic field, but are also felt in other sectors, including education, health, environment, police and justice.
