Dutch views on current EU affairs: Clingendael contribution to EU-27 Watch
September 2, 2010. Due to the new treaty provisions of the Lisbon Treaty and the economic crises the enlarged EU of 27 member states is on the search for a new modus operandi while also continuing membership talks with candidate countries. The EU-27 Watch project is mapping out discourses on these and more issues in European policies all over Europe. Research institutes from all 27 member states and the four candidate countries give overviews on the discourses in their respective countries. Read more »
Report and papers of conference on EU policy in the field of resource scarcity
August 23, 2010. On 26 and 27 April 2010, the Clingendael Institute and the government of the Netherlands organised the international conference “Enriching the Planet – Empowering Europe”. The report of this event, papers and other conference materials have now been published in a special booklet. Participants of the conference discussed the role the EU could play in catalysing the transition towards a more sustainable economy in the Union and abroad. They considered what the EU could do internally, how it could energize its sustainability agenda internationally, and how it could respond to global developments in the shortage of natural resources. June 17, 2010. Een discussie over het Nederlandse optreden in de eurocrisis van 2010
De financiële crisis leek begin dit jaar te wijken. De beurzen klommen naar onverwachte hoogtes en de economische inzinking leek een V in plaats van een W te worden. In maart adviseerde het Centraal Planbureau nog om het herstel niet te belasten met harde bezuinigingen.
