Book project: Call for Papers on Consular Affairs
December 10, 2007. Ana Mar Fernandez (Institut d'Études Politiques, Paris) and Jan Melissen (Clingendael Institute) have decided to edit a book on consular affairs that will be offered to Brill's new book series Diplomatic Studies. It will analyse the upgrading of consular affairs within the sphere of diplomacy and explore the various implications of this phenomenon for the consolidation of consular services as society’s window into diplomacy.
There is little doubt that such a book could break significant new ground. Consular affairs have acquired a new strategic role for MFAs, but a quick read of textbooks on diplomacy might leave the impression that they are as marginal as ever.
The editors are hoping to attract some of the world's best research to remedy this state of affairs. Authors are invited to submit a synopsis of max. 250 words within one of the four subject areas mentioned above. For more information click here »
