1st The Hague Diplomacy Conference: Crossroads of Diplomacy 21-22 June 2007

The conference is organized under the auspices of The Hague Journal of Diplomacy.

The objective of the conference will be to provide a showcase for some of the latest scholarship in diplomacy. Past and future authors, the editors and associate editors, but particularly also 'new faces' and junior scholars will participate in the conference. Emphasis will be placed on providing (relatively) junior students of diplomacy with a chance to have their research discussed and commented upon by more senior figures.

The fairly broad scope of the conference permits presentation of papers on the changing functions of diplomacy, emerging actors in the current diplomatic environment, as well as contributions on what has and what has not changed in forms of diplomacy that are characteristically regarded as 'new'. Papers and panels at the conference will be on topics such as trends in diplomatic representation, consular affairs, public diplomacy, sub-state diplomacy, as well as diplomatic continuity in a fast-changing international environment.

There will be a featured speaker from the world of diplomacy at Thursday's conference dinner, and the conference will conclude with a buffet lunch and a cultural tour on Friday afternoon.
